Christmas is the most exciting time of the year. With Christmas just over a month away, you’re probably starting to get in the festive mood – with big plans and surprises!

While Christmas and NYE both celebrated in December, many couple feel this would be the perfect time to get married, to grab some exclusive fun and joy at the end of the year. There’s no denying that Christmas time is special and a Christmas wedding can be beautiful and unique in many ways. Let’s take a look at some of the ways where mixing Christmas flavour to your wedding will result unforgettable memories for lifetime.

1. Christmas Decorations

This is the most obvious one and is likely the thing you’ll consider first if you’re celebrating your wedding around Christmas. The trick is not to go too overboard when it comes to decorating the venue, a few sprinkles of Christmas cheer here and there should give you the right balance unless you’re heavily investing in the ‘Christmas Wedding’ theme. A Christmas tree, candy canes on the tables, Christmas hats (make for fun wedding photos), random traces of mistletoe - the list of options can go on.

2. Serve Traditional Dishes or Snacks

Your wedding menu can have some typical Christmas meals and dishes included. You can serve many different Christmas themed offerings at your wedding banquet including Christmas puddings, cakes, mince pies or Santa/Christmas tree shaped cookies with coffee. The next step of course is to serve turkey and mulled wine! Nothing is more Christmassy than eating good food with friends and family.

3. Choose Flower Arrangements Accordingly

Decorative and bouquet flowers can be made to have a Christmas theme and the colour options are numerous. Green, white and red are a safe option and generally work well, however you can always spice things up with white Christmas colours, depending on the overall setting of your wedding (works better for decorative flowers).

4. Lighting and Candles

Even though it’s summer during the Christmas time here in Australia, seasonal decorations are generally winter-based. While warm lighting and candles are typically associated with the colder months, they can go a long way in helping create a magical Christmas mood. Summer Wedding at Christmas can be very interesting.

5. Be Creative with Hair Accessories and Bridal Jewellery

All eyes are going to be on the bride and the bridal party on your special day, so if you’re embracing the Christmas wedding idea, make sure you look that part. Again, there are many options here - bridal earrings, head pieces that fit with the Christmas theme come in all shapes and sizes and can be any of the typical white, red or green. Silver and white tiaras are particularly popular.

When it comes to bridal accessories, you can be more presentable with necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even Christmas brooches. We’ve seen cases where brides have even painted their nails in Christmas colours!

There are many ways to give your wedding a Christmas feel, but often creativity is one of the key! You should never feel compelled to make the focus about Christmas however it can be lots of fun and work really well if you do.
