To Tiara or Not To Tiara

When it comes to wearing a tiara on your wedding day, it is often hotly debated. Some may think it is a little too much, while others live for the fairy-tale princess look for their personal ceremony. There are no rules when it comes to your wedding day, apart from having a fantastic time, but for those who think tiaras are a little over the top, there are plenty of classy alternatives that can provide you with a similar stunning look!

Bridal head pieces have come a long way since their traditional inceptions such as a traditional bridal veil or tiara head piece. These days, many more brides are incorporating functionality into their headpieces with items such as bridal hair combs that can perfectly hold a stunning bridal hair style, whilst providing a flash of colour (or bling!) to maximise the effect.

Hair Combs and Bridal Brooches

The “reveal” at the alter is one of the very special and magic moments of any traditional or non-traditional wedding ceremony, so with the addition of a bridal veil you will be able to experience one of the most unforgettable moments of the day.

Bridal veils are very versatile, and allow you to attach them in several different ways. Many brides like to add another accessory to their bridal veil to finish off the look, but to also keep it in place for when the reveal takes place. This is a great way to add your tiara or bridal brooch or even bridal hair comb into the mix, and give you a fantastic reason not to rule these out.

Whatever type of bridal head piece you choose for your wedding day, keep in mind the different varieties available to you to give you a wider range of options. The perfect bridal headpiece is out there to match your taste, reflect your personality and give you the stunningly unique look that you desire for your very special day.

How Wedding Umbrellas Can Make Your Wedding a Classy Affair

Bridal Parasols
In recent times, many different accessories have become popular at weddings due to either their idyllic charm or through family tradition. But one particular accessory has become one of the biggest trends in wedding ceremonies, the wedding umbrella or wedding parasol. For many different reasons, wedding umbrellas have become popular the world over, so let’s take a look at both the practical and aesthetic reasons why.

One of the simplest reasons why wedding umbrellas and parasols have become so popular is because most weddings are scheduled in seasons that have more bright sunny days. For this reason, parasols and umbrellas are used to keep the bride and bridesmaids, as well as members of the family cool and comfortable. Staying in the shade also helps you not overheat, so you will reduce the risk of fainting at your wedding.

Many people like to book their wedding day photo shoot ahead of time during the day to make sure that the photographer captures the couple excited and looking forward to their big day.

Using props and bridal accessories is a great way to ensure your style flows throughout the day, even after a change of clothes. Vintage Bridal Jewellery Trending With Modern Brides

Bridal jewellery is one of the most thought about and desired types of jewellery money can buy, with its decadent, simple or extravagant looks, each bride has their own take as to what is the perfect jewellery to wear on their big day. But one style of bridal jewellery is trending more often than not, and that is vintage bridal jewellery.

Vintage jewellery offers people the chance to wear timeless pieces of jewellery that was often built to a higher standard by some of the finest craftsmen who entered the business. Often with higher purity ratings compared to today’s jewellery, vintage pieces assert a certain style on its wearer, and allow for brides to look stunning in a timeless piece of classic fine jewellery.

Hand-picked designs

Impostors is a fine bridal jewellery store that offers its customers a wide selection of some of the most elegant bridal wear available today. With a specific range of vintage items that have been hand-picked to give the most elegant looks, some of the biggest name designers in the jewellery industry have made names for themselves with their classic designs.

Often the best designs appear timeless when it comes to jewellery, so choosing the right era that will match your personal style, as well as your personality is the best chance you have of pulling off a stunning look with the help of a little bling.

The timeless look of vintage jewellery

Many vintage pieces are classic for their looks and their overall charm, but many vintage jewellery pieces offer a story alongside the history of the craftsman who created it. Jewellery goes through many different trends and styles over the years, and it is often the pieces that appear to have a classic design and a vintage feel that look the most elegant.

There are certain arrangements of jewels that stay imprinted in the mind when it comes to bridal jewellery, and so the classic combination of earrings, necklace, bracelet and tiara come to mind when going for that classic look.

Vintage and classic themed

Why not make your wedding theme a vintage, traditional wedding with eyes on the dresses and bridesmaids turning out in classic vintage gowns to make your wedding photos have a timeless look to them. Classic design never dies out, so if you are after a very particular wedding look, your bridal jewellery is the most stand-out part of the finished article.

Vintage jewellery doesn’t have to mean a select 200 year old piece, but some of the modern classic created in the 70s and 80s are now old enough and classic enough to be considered vintage finds too.
Some of the stand-out pieces of these two decades include the introduction of different jewels into the bridal scene and with the addition of classic shapes and designs, pearls, jade and emeralds were the traditional base with a modern twist to make some of the most elegant bridal jewellery over the past 100 years.

Why not think about going vintage for your wedding jewellery set, and try out some of the classic designs from Impostors. With specialists in bridal wear and design, you will find all of the help you need to pick out the perfect outfit and accessories to make your wedding that extra special.

5 of Our Favourite Wedding Films!

We love everything about weddings here at Impostors; talking about them, shopping for them (bridal jewellery especially), going to them or even seeing them on the silver screen! A good wedding movie (like a good wedding!) can make you cry and laugh simultaneously, and there have been some absolute classics over the past 25 years that we still enjoy today. Here we look at some of our favourites.

The first, from 1991, is Father of the Bride. A remake of the 1950 classic, this version combines drama and humour and tells a story that many can relate to. Steve Martin plays a reluctant father that has to face the fact that his little girl has all grown up and is ready to be married away. The Father of the Bride has everything you want in a rom-com; human characters, plot twists and laughs, with Martin Short stealing the show as the wedding coordinator. Father of the bride is an all-time classic and absolute must-see for any member of the family, let alone the Father of the Bride himself.

Any list of wedding films has to include My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It tells the story of a young Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man, struggling to reconcile this fact with her family. Brilliantly cast and as funny as a fit, there’s plenty of romance here and it’s definitely worth multiple watches!

This British rom-com style movie centres on the story of the archetypical bumbling Hugh Grant character that falls for a woman, after seeing at multiple weddings. The spark that the two characters share continues through a series of chance encounters and blossoms into something magical near the end.

We had to get an Australian film on the list! In this cult classic, Muriel is known for her social ineptitude and after a series of rejections from her friends and family becomes unsatisfied with life. After becoming obsessed with the music of ABBA, Muriel starts to create her own fantasies of decadent and beautiful wedding ceremonies with luxurious dresses and gleaming bridal jewellery, in which she sees herself as the bride. A series of liberating experiences sees Muriel maturing into the person she strived to be, and with a growing level of self-esteem aims to give you a chance to see another side of wedding based coming of age stories.

This 1997 comedy tells the story of a young woman that is in love with her friend’s fiancĂ©, soon to be husband. Despite being the maid-of-honour and pretending to be supportive of the relationship, she essentially sets out to sabotage the wedding and win the affections of the groomsman. Naturally, the results of this are hilarious and at times quite sad too. Julia Roberts’ charming performance goes down as one of our favourites; if you missed this one, be sure to give it a look!
